Gian van Veen is aiming to make his return to the Premier League stage in Berlin on Thursday night, following surgery to remove kidney stones. The Dutchman missed last week's Dublin event and a European Tour tournament in Belgium due to the procedure.
Van Veen admitted his energy levels are 'still lower than I hoped' but said he is 'doing everything' to be fit for the quarter-final clash with Gerwyn Price. In a social media post, he stressed the importance of listening to his body, stating: 'As important as the Premier League is, my health is more important.'
The 21-year-old, who was runner-up at the World Championship, has been practising and working on his recovery. 'Berlin is the goal. Walking out onto that Premier League stage and making my comeback at the oche is what is driving me through every session, every day,' he added.
Meanwhile, Luke Littler, who won his second nightly title in Dublin, faces Stephen Bunting in the quarter-finals. Jonny Clayton meets Josh Rock, who is still without a win, while Luke Humphries takes on Michael van Gerwen in a heavyweight encounter.
