Thomas Tuchel has praised the performances of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Lewis Hall after England's 2-0 victory over ten-man Czech Republic in the Nations League in Prague on Tuesday night. Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane scored for the Three Lions.
Full-backs impress in Prague
Alexander-Arnold made his first England start in almost two years at right-back, while Hall earned his fifth cap and only second start at left-back. Tuchel said both players delivered strong displays.
"Good — both good," Tuchel said. "I think the position in the second half suited Trent a little bit more than the position in the first half. Lewis did excellently on the other side. So well done. I think we have used all outfield players now over the two matches. Credit to them. They deserved it."
Professional performance
Tuchel described his side's overall display as professional, noting an improvement after the break. "In the second half we stepped up — we needed to be a bit more dynamic and have a bit more urgency in our play, which we did. We kept the intensity going and the effort was still there. A deserved victory."
He also commented on the early red card for the Czechs. "It is always a bit strange to get an early red card [in the game]. It is not the best for the spectators and not the best for the team. It is an awkward one, but we got an important one, and that is what counts."
Tuchel described Alexander-Arnold's assist for Gordon's opener as "a good pass and a good goal."
