Tottenham Hotspur are embroiled in a chaotic battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League, with just seven games remaining and no top-flight win in 2025. The club have already parted ways with two head coaches this season—Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor—and are now searching for a third, while sitting only one point above the drop zone. A defeat to West Ham could see them fall into the relegation zone for the first time this season ahead of a crucial trip to Sunderland.
The club's hierarchy have been criticised for a lack of coherent leadership, with reports suggesting they are improvising their way through the crisis. Sean Dyche was spotted in London but denied being in talks to replace Tudor, insisting he was merely enjoying a pint of Guinness and a radio appearance. Other names linked include club legends Ben Davies, Tim Sherwood, Harry Redknapp, and even mascot Chirpy the Cockerel, but the board appear focused on appointing Roberto De Zerbi.
De Zerbi, formerly of Brighton, is interested in the role but prefers to take over in the summer after someone else has secured survival. However, Tottenham are offering significant financial incentives for him to start immediately. Known for his volatile touchline presence and occasional insubordination, the Italian is seen as a risky but potentially galvanising figure to steer the club away from the Championship.
Meanwhile, Italy defender Federico Dimarco has denied accusations of arrogance after celebrating Bosnia's win over Wales, which helped Italy qualify for the World Cup. He insisted the team showed no disrespect, noting Italy have missed the last two World Cups.
