De Zerbi, who suffered his first defeat in five matches against Chelsea in midweek, acknowledged his players' fragile confidence but insisted they are aware of the stakes. 'Maybe they suffered too much. Their reaction has been not right, but not because they are not sensitive guys,' he said. 'There is just one solution: to be strong, stronger than the atmosphere, injuries, or negative things.'
The Italian manager has arranged for the squad to spend the night together before the Everton game and arrive on the team bus to foster the right mindset. 'I want to put the heads on ice,' he explained. 'The secret is to manage the pressure. To attack the pressure you have to find the valour inside yourself and force yourself to give your best.'
Despite the precarious situation, De Zerbi reaffirmed his commitment to the club, stating it would be an honour to stay even if Tottenham are relegated. 'I consider football something more than the table,' he said. The former Brighton boss signed a five-year contract in March after replacing interim head coach Igor Tudor.
