Drunk driver ploughs into Greek restaurant, injuring three

A 45-year-old driver was arrested after allegedly crashing into a packed restaurant in Evosmos, Thessaloniki, Greece, injuring three diners. The driver reportedly failed a breathalyser test at the scene.

Crash caught on video

Shocking video footage captured the moment the car careered into the establishment. The clip shows the vehicle reversing after the crash while customers, clutching chairs, charged towards it. Diners ran toward the car armed with chairs.

Massive plant pots positioned around the venue stopped the car from hitting additional patrons.

Owner describes terror and panic

"If we didn't have planters, we would have funerals," said the owner of the restaurant. She said she had departed the premises earlier and dashed back upon hearing of the crash, which happened in the early hours of Sunday.

"I saw terror and panic, it was like watching a movie," she said.

Arrest and hospitalisation

The motorist was detained at the scene, and the three injured diners were taken to hospital.
