Police Deploy Tasers as Violent Brawl Erupts After Welsh Cup Semi-Final
Violence erupted in Llandudno following the Welsh Cup semi-final match between Flint Town and Bangor, with police forced to use tasers to control a large-scale brawl. The incident occurred outside the Nevill public house on Vaughan Street, leading to five arrests and sparking a live investigation by North Wales Police.
Chaotic Scenes After Football Match
Flint Town secured their spot in the Welsh Cup semi-finals with a decisive 5-1 victory over domestic rivals Bangor at the Go Goodwins Stadium in Llandudno. However, celebrations quickly turned violent as disorder broke out among fans shortly after the match concluded at 3:59 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Footage shared on social media captured shocking scenes of officers detaining multiple supporters, with one police officer visibly pulling out a taser during the confrontation. The police have appealed for information, urging anyone who recorded the disorder to submit video evidence to assist their ongoing inquiries.
Police Response and Arrests
North Wales Police confirmed that five individuals were arrested on suspicion of public order offences, Section 47 assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and assaulting an emergency worker. A police statement emphasized that the investigation remains active, with authorities reviewing video footage and CCTV to identify further perpetrators.
"We are aware of considerable interest on social media, including widespread sharing of recorded footage by people present," the statement read. "We would ask anyone who recorded the disorder to send the video to us to assist in our ongoing investigations."
Football Authorities Condemn Violence
The Welsh FA (FAW) responded to the incident, noting that the match itself was played without incident and was a positive event for Welsh football. However, they condemned the subsequent violence, stating that it has no place in the sport and damages the experience enjoyed by the majority of fans.
A spokesperson for the FAW said, "The FAW are aware of reports of alleged disorder in Llandudno town centre following the conclusion of the match, and whilst this falls outside of the FAW’s jurisdiction, the association will support the North Wales Police investigation if required."
Club Statements and Ongoing Procedures
Bangor City issued a statement acknowledging the incident but refrained from further comment due to the ongoing police action. The club highlighted its established policies and procedures to address such issues, pledging to follow them if necessary.
"CPD Bangor City 1876 has established policies and procedures to address any issues raised and will follow those processes should they be required," the statement said. "We understand the matter is currently subject to ongoing action by North Wales Police, therefore, at this time, the club is unable to comment further."
The violent clash underscores ongoing concerns about fan behavior in football, with authorities and clubs reiterating their commitment to maintaining safety and order at sporting events.
