Swansea City open up four-point gap at Championship summit after comeback win over Norwich
Swansea City open up four-point lead at Championship summit

Swansea City opened up a four-point lead over second-placed West Ham United at the top of the Championship with another comeback win, this time over Norwich City.

Jacob Wright had fired the Canaries in front just before the half-hour mark, before Moussa Yeo's third goal in as many games early in the second half restored parity.

Idah seals decisive win

Adam Idah's header on the hour then put the hosts in front, and that strike proved decisive in sealing Swansea's sixth win of the season.

They remain top of the league ahead of what promises to be a tough week ahead, with a trip to Millwall followed up by the visit of West Ham next week.

This was all in front of former hero John Toshack, who made an emotional rare public appearance ahead of kick-off.

Comeback pattern continues

Vitor Matos made three changes to the side that beat Lincoln City before the international break, a game that followed a similar pattern to proceedings here, with Swansea once again blowing their opponents away in the second half.

That said, Swansea actually started brightly, although chances were at a premium in the opening 20 minutes or so. Yeo curled a shot into the arms of Vladan Kovacevic, while Idah probably should have tested the Norwich goalkeeper just over five minutes later.

The Irishman, however, couldn't get the ball out from under his feet after being played in by Joseph Opoku. Swansea were made to pay for that profligacy on 28 minutes, as Wright, once a transfer target for the Swans, slid home following Oscar Schwartau's neat low cross.

Second-half surge

An early second-half double was enough to seal a well-earned win for the Swans last time out, and sure enough they raced out the traps again here. Yeo, just as he did at Sincil Bank, restored parity early after the restart, getting on the end of a Josh Tymon cross that had narrowly evaded Idah, before taking a touch and firing home.

Idah then got the goal his pestering of the Norwich defence deserved on the hour, rising to flick home a teasing Melker Widell cross. The former Norwich man would, however, see his afternoon cut short two minutes later, hobbling off with an apparent injury before being replaced by Zan Vipotnik.

Norwich had given Vigouroux very little to do since their opener, with Filip Lissah embodying the spirit of his side's performance with a monster block to deny substitute Anthony Musaba late on. However, Vigouroux did have to be alert two minutes before time to palm away Sam Field's effort inside the area, while Jovan Makama couldn't keep his header down at the death as Swansea secured another impressive three points.
