Former world snooker champion Stuart Bingham has publicly discussed his significant weight loss journey, crediting weekly Mounjaro injections for helping him shed an impressive three stone.
From 18 Stone to Feeling a Million Dollars
The 2015 Crucible champion, now 49, began the prescription medication in November 2024. In the subsequent months, his weight dropped from 18 stone to 15 stone. Speaking to The Sun, the London-born sportsman said the change has left him "feeling a million dollars" and eradicated persistent aches and pains he experienced at his heaviest.
"This time last year I think I must have already lost a couple of stone," Bingham reflected. "So I was touching 18 stone before it came off. I felt good. Funnily enough I had a bit of knee trouble and a bit of sciatica. By losing that weight, all the aches and pains slowly and gradually went away."
How Mounjaro Changed His Appetite and Routine
Mounjaro is a weekly injection used by tens of thousands across Britain. It works by making users feel fuller for longer, thereby suppressing appetite, a mechanism confirmed by the NHS. Bingham has experienced this effect firsthand.
"To be fair with the injections, it makes you forget to eat," he admitted. "Like the other day, I had a banana for breakfast and then something late at night. Whereas before I'd always pick throughout the day, have a sandwich, breakfast and a main meal. Now I'm eating once or possibly twice a day."
He also confessed that the festive period presented a challenge: "Christmas was hard. I put on half a stone beforehand with the Shoot Out and Scottish Open - I was enjoying a few Guinnesses."
Looking Ahead: Focus on Seniors Tour
Bingham's career remains active. Earlier this month, he reached the final of the Shoot Out, ultimately losing to unranked player Alfie Burden. His focus now shifts to the Seniors British Open in Derby, a three-day event starting today at the new Vaillant Live arena.
The snooker star summarised his improved wellbeing simply: "I didn't realise it to be fair but I felt so much better in myself. Obviously the clothes started to be baggy and I couldn't eat as much but felt a million dollars." His story highlights the growing personal use of prescription weight loss solutions like Mounjaro among public figures.
