Liverpool manager Arne Slot is expected to provide an update on Florian Wirtz's fitness when he faces the media on Friday morning, with the playmaker a doubt for Saturday's Premier League match against West Ham United at Anfield.
Wirtz missed last Sunday's last-gasp 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest after injuring his back during the warm-up. Slot said after that match that the £116m summer signing was unable to start and hoped he would be available this week, but the German was not pictured in training on Thursday, raising further uncertainty over his involvement.
One positive note for Slot is the return of Jeremie Frimpong to training. The right-back, who has been sidelined since January 28 with his third injury setback of the season, took part in Thursday's session at the AXA Training Centre and could make his first appearance in a month. His absence had forced Slot to deploy midfielders out of position, with Conor Bradley ruled out for the season with a knee injury.
West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed that goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and January signing Pablo Felipe remain sidelined. Fabianski has been out since November with a back injury, while Pablo is continuing his individual rehabilitation and will not return this weekend.
Kick-off at Anfield is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday.
