Benjamin Sesko has expressed his disappointment over Casemiro's impending departure from Manchester United, describing the Brazilian midfielder as a "working machine" whose influence will be sorely missed both on and off the pitch at Old Trafford.
Casemiro's Influence Praised
Speaking after United's 2-1 victory over Brentford on Monday, Sesko highlighted the veteran's crucial role in the team's push for Champions League qualification. Casemiro, who has announced he will leave the club this summer after four years, delivered another commanding performance in the win that leaves United needing just two points to secure a top-four finish.
"He's a working machine," said Sesko. "He's experienced and what he's putting on the pitch is unbelievable. You need someone like this. Unfortunately he's leaving, but we are pleased that we can manage him until the last minute in the game and we're going to use him."
Off-Pitch Leadership
The Slovenia international also credited Casemiro with maintaining high standards off the pitch, noting that younger players look up to him as a role model. "The way you look at him, it's very important," Sesko added. "It would be stupid if you didn't look at him and try to be like him when it comes to the work rate and stuff. I think everyone is pleased that he is here. Unfortunately he leaves but it's important to keep him up like this until the end of the season."
Carrick's Impact
United have won nine of their 13 Premier League matches under interim manager Michael Carrick, taking more points than any other team in that period. Carrick confirmed after the Brentford game that Casemiro's decision to leave is final. Sesko praised Carrick for bringing "a different energy" to the squad since replacing Ruben Amorim in January and backed him to become the permanent manager.
"He's an amazing coach, I've said this many times," said the 22-year-old. "He's brought different energy. Also the way we're doing in the training, it's unbelievable. Of course I would like to have him here."
