The Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 12-0 in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, avenging their dramatic loss in the 2015 championship. Running back Kenneth Walker III was named MVP after rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries in a defensive masterclass.
Quarterback Sam Darnold threw for 202 yards and a touchdown, completing a lengthy redemption arc from draft bust to champion. 'It's unbelievable. Just everything that's happened in my career,' Darnold said. 'But to do it with this team, I wouldn't want it any other way.'
The Seahawks' defence smothered the Patriots all game, forcing eight punts and a fumble. New England's young quarterback Drake Maye struggled under constant pressure, with rookie defensive end Rylie Mills sacking him multiple times. The first half ended 9-0 after three Jason Myers field goals.
Seattle's pass rush was relentless, targeting Patriots tackle Will Campbell. New England offensive co-ordinator Josh McDaniels, a six-time Super Bowl winner, could not find an answer. Another Myers field goal made it 12-0 before the Patriots' first turnover, sealing Seattle's second Super Bowl title.
