Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has criticised the current squad, claiming several players are not of Premier League quality. Speaking after United's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, Scholes singled out the midfield trio of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Kobbie Mainoo as failing to perform.
Scholes also condemned the club's transfer policy, calling it a 'criminal offence' to miss out on goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who joined Manchester City. He questioned the need to sign three forwards when midfield and goalkeeper were priorities.
United invested heavily in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, and Senne Lammens over the summer, while selling Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho. Andre Onana left on loan to Trabzonspor.
Scholes expressed doubts about manager Ruben Amorim's 3-4-2-1 system, urging him to adapt or face mounting pressure. United have made their worst start to a league season in 23 years.
