Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been urged to speak to Freddie Ljungberg about managing Wrexham, as the club aims for Premier League promotion. The suggestion comes from Anders Limpar, a former team-mate of Ljungberg at Arsenal and Sweden.
Wrexham currently sit 19th in the Championship, two points above the relegation zone, after a challenging start to the season. Manager Phil Parkinson retains the backing of the board, but the club spent £33 million on 13 new signings in the summer and have yet to gel.
Limpar believes Ljungberg, 48, has the right attributes to succeed at the Hollywood-owned club. 'Freddie Ljungberg is a good communicator. I think he's ready to step in to take on another team,' Limpar told Hajper. 'For whoever gives him another chance, he will be an unbelievable manager.'
Ljungberg served as interim head coach at Arsenal in 2019 after Unai Emery's departure. He left the club in 2020 but remains highly regarded for his work with the youth teams. Since then, he has managed N5 FC in the Baller League alongside Jens Lehmann and Robert Pires.
Wrexham face Oxford United at home on Wednesday, followed by a trip to second-placed Middlesbrough on Saturday. These matches could be pivotal for Parkinson's future ahead of the November international break.
