Chelsea Legend Ryan Bertrand Eyes Shock Return to Premier League with Nottingham Forest
Ryan Bertrand in talks for Nottingham Forest move

Former Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand could be set for a dramatic return to the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest reportedly in advanced talks to sign the veteran defender.

The 34-year-old, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012, has been without a club since leaving Leicester City last summer. Now, Forest are keen to bolster their defensive options with Bertrand's experience as they battle to avoid relegation.

A decorated career

Bertrand made his name at Chelsea, where he came through the academy before making 57 appearances for the Blues. His crowning moment came in Munich when he started - and excelled - in Chelsea's historic Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich.

After loan spells at several clubs, he established himself at Southampton, making over 240 appearances for the Saints between 2014 and 2021. His last Premier League appearance came for Leicester in April 2022.

Forest's defensive reinforcements

Nottingham Forest have struggled defensively this season, conceding 47 goals in 23 games. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo sees Bertrand as an ideal short-term solution who can provide leadership and top-flight experience.

While injuries have hampered Bertrand in recent years, Forest believe he could still make an impact in their survival bid. The move would reunite him with former Chelsea teammate Ross Barkley, who joined Forest earlier this season.

Should the deal go through, Bertrand could make his Forest debut in their crucial relegation six-pointer against Everton on March 5th.
