Liam Rosenior Under Pressure as Chelsea's Losing Streak Continues
Rosenior Admits 'I Need Results Now' at Chelsea

Liam Rosenior Faces Mounting Pressure at Chelsea Amid Poor Form

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has openly admitted that his position at the club is under severe threat unless he can swiftly reverse the team's alarming slump in form. Despite receiving recent public backing from co-owner Behdad Eghbali, Rosenior is acutely aware that long-term support hinges entirely on immediate results. The Blues have suffered four consecutive Premier League defeats, leaving them seven points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool with only five matches remaining in the season.

Rosenior's Candid Assessment of the Situation

When questioned about whether his future was secure regardless of Champions League qualification, Rosenior responded with stark realism. "I've had many conversations with them," he stated. "It's a very direct question, I like it. They're supporting me. They believe in me. There's one thing I haven't believed – the reality of the situation. At Chelsea football club, we've lost our four last league games. That's not good enough. So, regardless of what they believe I can achieve with the club in the long term, I need to get results now with this group and with the sporting directors as well."

Chelsea currently sit in sixth place ahead of a crucial away fixture against Brighton on Tuesday night. A defeat could see the world champions plummet as low as 11th in the table before their next league encounter, a home match against Nottingham Forest on May 4th.

Call for Character and Accountability

Rosenior emphasised the need for self-reliance and resilience within the squad. "We can't be looking to other teams or results, we have to look to ourselves," he asserted. "It's easy, these words: 'Keep the faith' and 'belief'. This is about character now. It's about standing up. It's about people who are willing in difficult moments to stand up for the shirt and fight."

He also revealed that defender Wesley Fofana has apologised for his angry reaction to being substituted during the 1-0 loss to Manchester United. Rosenior highlighted the importance of player behaviour in shaping public perception. "I've spoken to the players about this," he explained. "You tell a story about yourself in moments sometimes, especially on a football pitch. It's emotional and you tell a story about your character and sometimes when you don't show yourself in the best light, the perception of you is probably different to what the reality is."

Rosenior stressed his commitment to protecting his young squad from external criticism while holding himself accountable. "My job is to be accountable," he declared. "The buck stops with me. I want to protect them. I believe we will come through this period so much stronger, but we have to get this part right now."

Injury Crisis and Training Methods Defended

Chelsea are grappling with a spate of muscle injuries, affecting key players such as Estêvão Willian, Jamie Gittens, and Reece James, all sidelined with hamstring issues, while João Pedro is doubtful due to a thigh problem. Rosenior defended his training methods, noting that he has not had sufficient time to alter the schedule since taking over from Enzo Maresca in January.

"When I first joined the club I had a great conversation with the head of performance and the head of medical," Rosenior said. "They're doing a lot of research into why even before my time [it's happening]. But the logical and honest answer is: look at the amount of games our players have played. The more games you play in a short space of time, your risk of injury, especially muscular, goes through the roof. That's something that we need to look at and how we can best protect the players."

As the pressure intensifies, Rosenior's ability to navigate this turbulent period will be critical for Chelsea's prospects in the final stretch of the season.
