Rio Ferdinand Offers Fans Dream World Cup Trip with Airbnb
Rio Ferdinand Teams Up with Airbnb for World Cup Trip

Former England captain Rio Ferdinand is heading to the FIFA World Cup and has partnered with Airbnb to offer football fans an unforgettable experience. Although he retired from international football in 2013, this summer marks his first tournament as a fan in 30 years, having attended every World Cup since 1998 as either a player or pundit.

The Ultimate Quarter-Final Getaway

Rio will be in Los Angeles, where four fans and their plus ones will enjoy a dream football experience. The Ultimate Quarter-Final Getaway includes a three-night stay at an Airbnb in the heart of the city, complete with a private chef service. Guests will also have the chance to meet Rio at a live recording of his podcast, ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents’.

Attendees will go behind the scenes with the Manchester United legend and his co-hosts, Joel Beya and Ste Howson, along with a special guest. They will also attend a FIFA World Cup quarter-final match in Los Angeles.

Rio's Excitement

Rio said: “Football has been my life, and there’s no bigger stage than the FIFA World Cup. This summer’s a big one with Airbnb. We’re all about bringing fans closer than ever, proper access, big moments, straight from the US. And for me, it’s something new – I’ll be experiencing a World Cup as a fan for the first time in over 30 years. I can’t wait to get started.”

Fan Travel Trends

As the countdown to the tournament begins, new Airbnb data reveals that England and Scotland fans lead the way in travel to the World Cup, with searches in host cities increasing by 301%. Supporters are turning the event into a road trip adventure across North America, planning stops at three destinations and staying for an average of 15 nights.

Lisa Marçais, general manager for UKI, Northern Europe & MEA at Airbnb, said: “As the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaches, UK fans are turning their trips into real adventures. Whether it's a neighbourhood stay near the stadium or exploring the local city through an Airbnb Experience, we help fans get closer to the game, the culture, and everything each host city has to offer.”
