Rex Culpepper, the 28-year-old son of former Survivor contestants Brad and Monica Culpepper, has died following a dirt bike accident in Georgia on Saturday. The former Syracuse University quarterback succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Syracuse University’s football team paid tribute on social media, stating: “Our Orange family mourns the loss of Rex Culpepper, who passed away this weekend at the age of 28. Rex lived his life with endless passion, having overcome cancer at the age of 20 while playing for the Orange.”
Culpepper appeared in 30 games for Syracuse and was diagnosed with testicular cancer in spring 2018. He continued to play through chemotherapy, completing 100 hours of treatment and being declared cancer-free later that year, earning him the university’s Jim DaRin Courage Award.
After graduating in 2020, Culpepper completed a master’s degree, then enrolled at Stetson University College of Law. He later joined the Florida Bar and worked at Morgan & Morgan law firm in Tampa. Last month, he announced his engagement to Savanna Morgan, a former Syracuse cheerleader.
Brad Culpepper played in the NFL as a defensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears before competing on Survivor: Blood vs Water and Survivor: Game Changers. Monica Culpepper also appeared on Survivor: One World and Blood vs Water, finishing as runner-up.
