Real Madrid tracking Liverpool's Victor Munoz after Trent exit
Real Madrid tracking Liverpool's Victor Munoz

Real Madrid are reportedly tracking Liverpool winger Victor Munoz and midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, following Trent Alexander-Arnold's move to the Bernabeu last year. According to reports in Spain, Los Blancos are keeping a close eye on the Spain international, who came through their youth ranks.

Munoz's impressive start at Anfield

The 23-year-old has made a positive start in the Premier League following his summer move from Osasuna. Liverpool moved to sign him after Newcastle United expressed initial interest in the forward.

Spanish outlet AS has reported that Jose Mourinho's side are looking to the long-term future of the European giants and eyeing potential returns for academy prospects who have excelled across the continent. Munoz features on the list alongside Como duo Jacobo Ramon and Nico Paz.

No buy-back clause in Munoz deal

Both Ramon and Paz have buy-back clauses in their initial deals to Italy from Real Madrid. However, it was reported in the summer that the Liverpool forward does not have that option in his Anfield contract.

The Athletic reported at the time that the record Champions League holders retain the right to match any offer in the event Liverpool sell in the future. The interest in Munoz comes amid uncertainty over Alexis Mac Allister.

Mac Allister contract uncertainty

The Argentine has been a long-standing target for Real Madrid and, as he enters the final 12 months of his contract on Merseyside with no sign of an extension, potential suitors are circling. This follows a familiar route between Liverpool and the Bernabeu in recent summers, beginning with Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure to the Spanish capital last year, before Ibrahima Konate subsequently made the same journey this summer.

Although the 27-year-old has remained at the club and publicly pledged his commitment, there has been no indication of a new deal being signed, with further speculation surrounding a potential La Liga switch in the coming months. This fits an established pattern of Real Madrid monitoring players approaching the end of their contracts at Anfield in pursuit of a bargain deal, though the latest reported interest represents something of a departure from that approach.

Munoz's early contributions

There is optimism that Munoz's promising beginning represents merely the start, having contributed two vital goals and one assist across eight Premier League outings to date, while competing with several high-profile forwards for game time.

"Once you have a player, you really understand what he gives to the group," Iraola recently said on the summer recruit. "Attitude-wise, I think he is ready to help in whatever position we need him. He is playing right, left, the other day he played right-back."

"I think he is a player with hunger. He hasn't played professionally in a big club like Liverpool but he has been in the academy of Barcelona, has been in the academy of Real Madrid, has trained with those teams. He knows the level that is required in those teams. Also with the national team he is having experience. So, he is a player that is adapting really well, yes."

This points to the Liverpool manager being pleased with Munoz's progress, with all focus firmly on his long-term future at Anfield rather than a move away from the club.
