A year ago, Marcus Rashford sent shockwaves through football by declaring he was ready to leave Manchester United. The forward, who rose through the club's youth ranks, announced his willingness to embrace a 'new challenge' in a bombshell interview with journalist Henry Winter.
Rashford's decision came after being frozen out by manager Ruben Amorim, who dropped him from the squad for a derby win over Manchester City due to alleged poor attitude in training. Amorim later said he would rather pick his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach than a player who does not give maximum effort.
After a loan spell at Aston Villa, where he scored four goals and provided six assists, Rashford joined Barcelona on loan in July 2025. He has since contributed seven goals and 11 assists in 24 appearances, nearing his best form.
Rashford has made it clear he does not envision a return to United, expressing a desire to stay at Barcelona permanently. The Catalan club have a reported £26million option-to-buy clause, but its activation remains uncertain.
