Erik ten Hag has insisted he is not concerned about being sacked as Manchester United manager after a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday. The result marked United's second consecutive 3-0 home league loss, following a similar defeat to Liverpool earlier this month.
Brennan Johnson scored after just three minutes, and Bruno Fernandes was sent off before half-time. Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke added goals after the break, leaving United 12th in the Premier League with seven points from six games and a goal difference of minus three.
When asked if the club's executives, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, might decide to change the manager, Ten Hag said: 'I am not thinking about this. We all made in the summer the decision to stay together, as an ownership, a leadership group. We knew it will take some time. I don't have that concern.'
The Dutchman acknowledged the performance was below standard, particularly after conceding a similar goal to the one against Twente in midweek. 'It is clear and obvious when you concede a goal like this again, it shouldn't happen,' he said. 'What I saw in the first 30 minutes is below the level of what we can expect from a Manchester United team.'
Former United captain and Sky pundit Gary Neville described the first-half display as 'absolutely disgusting' and warned that 'the pressure is going to get ramped up – it is going to be brutal.'
