Ousmane Dembélé scored twice in the second half as Paris Saint-Germain completed a 4-0 aggregate victory over Liverpool at Anfield to reach the Champions League semi-finals. The French side, who had won the first leg 2-0 in Paris, were rarely troubled as they advanced with a clinical display.
Liverpool, missing several key players through injury, started brightly and thought they had a penalty when the ball struck a PSG defender's arm, but the decision was overturned after a VAR review. Arne Slot later said: 'For me it was a clear penalty. If we get that and score, it's a completely different game.'
PSG took control in the second half. Dembélé opened the scoring in the 72nd minute, cutting inside from the left and curling a shot into the far corner. He added a second in stoppage time, finishing off a swift counter-attack after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola combined.
Liverpool's best chance fell to Ibrahima Konaté, who headed wide from a corner with the score at 0-0. Substitute Rio Ngumoha also forced a smart save from PSG goalkeeper Matvei Safonov. But the visitors were rarely troubled, with their defence marshalled by captain Marquinhos.
PSG will now face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the semi-finals. Slot, whose side also exited the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage, said: 'We created many chances and I think we were the better team today. This is football.'
