Prince Harry was booed by sections of the crowd as he watched Leicester Tigers beat Gloucester in a thrilling Gallagher Premiership clash, with several Welsh rugby stars making their mark on the field.
The Duke of Sussex, now back living in the UK, was pictured drinking a beer in the stands at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Friday night when his image appeared on the stadium's big screen, prompting an audible reaction from supporters.
Leicester fight back for victory
Harry, a keen rugby fan, was attending the match as Leicester fought back from an early 14-point deficit to secure a 38-31 victory over Gloucester and retain the Slater Cup.
But while the royal's appearance attracted attention off the pitch, there was plenty of Welsh interest in a match featuring a host of international players on both sides.
Wales flanker Jac Morgan was among Gloucester's early try-scorers, powering over as the visitors made a fast start against Leicester.
Welsh stars in the spotlight
However, it was the home side who took control, with Wales international Aaron Wainwright scoring his first try for Leicester since joining the club.
The Dragons back-rower continued his impressive start to life at Welford Road, contributing to a victory that saw the Tigers score 31 unanswered points during a dominant spell.
Tommy Reffell was another Welshman to catch the eye for Leicester, delivering a standout performance at the breakdown as he helped disrupt Gloucester's attacking rhythm.
The flanker produced a crucial try-saving tackle on Will Joseph and made life difficult for the visitors throughout the contest.
Reffell's display was particularly impressive given he had been unwell overnight, with Leicester head coach Geoff Parling revealing afterwards: "He's been up since 3am."
Welsh talent on show
The performance strengthened Reffell's case for a Wales starting spot ahead of next month's Nations Championship fixtures.
Meanwhile, Gloucester captain and Wales skipper Dewi Lake continued to lead the visitors, who had started the season with back-to-back league victories before suffering their first defeat.
Olly Cracknell was another Welsh forward to impress for Leicester, completing 16 tackles and making 14 carries in a physical encounter.
Despite Leicester's late dominance, Gloucester fought back in the closing stages to claim two bonus points, with Jack Innard scoring a late try before George Barton kicked a penalty with the final action of the game.
The result gave Leicester a valuable victory, but the performances of Morgan, Wainwright, Reffell, Lake and Cracknell provided another reminder of the Welsh talent making an impact in the English Premiership.
