Pep Guardiola is expected to leave Manchester City after a decade in charge, with an announcement anticipated before the end of the season. The club has not confirmed reports that his final match will be at home to Aston Villa on the Premier League's last day, but figures close to the club expect confirmation imminently.
Guardiola’s former assistant Enzo Maresca, currently out of work after leaving Chelsea in January, is tipped to replace him. City face Bournemouth away on Tuesday, needing victories in their two remaining games to have any chance of overtaking Arsenal for the Premier League title and securing a domestic treble.
Guardiola, who joined City in July 2016 from Bayern Munich, has overseen an era of unprecedented success. His haul includes six Premier League titles, a Champions League, three FA Cups, five League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, Uefa Super Cup and three Community Shields. This season he added the FA Cup after a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Wembley.
Despite signing a contract extension until 2027 in November 2024, Guardiola hinted at potential departure. After the FA Cup final, he dismissed the idea that the match would be his last at Wembley, jokingly lamenting the lack of a permanent tribute at the stadium.
