Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in the ring on Saturday, December 11, 2026, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, in what is being billed as the biggest and most long-awaited super-fight in British boxing history.
The high-profile heavyweight rivalry, spanning more than a decade, will be settled on UK soil in December, barring any further issues threatening the delicate agreement negotiated by Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh. The deal reportedly does not contain a rematch clause on either side.
Although the fight is several years overdue and neither man currently holds a world title, interest remains immense in a showdown that will be watched around the world on Netflix. An opening press conference in London was a surprisingly tame and cordial affair, with a distinct lack of acrimony, despite the fight appearing in serious jeopardy just hours after the official announcement due to a bitter feud between Eddie Hearn and Dana White.
Promotion and venue
The official naming of White as a co-promoter drew a furious reaction from Hearn, who claimed the UFC president and Zuffa Boxing chief could not be involved due to the terms of the contract. Fury said he had removed that stipulation from his own fight deal, welcoming White's involvement and accusing Joshua and Hearn of trying to back out amid reports that he could instead fight David Benavidez, or that the main event could be replaced by Terence Crawford coming out of retirement to face Ryan Garcia.
Hearn has stated that it was Joshua's unrelenting stance that ensured the decision to stage the 'Battle of Britain' in the UK, following an initial push to take it to Madison Square Garden in New York. It will be Fury's first fight at the home of Welsh rugby, while Joshua has competed there twice before, stopping Carlos Takam in October 2017 and outpointing Joseph Parker five months later.
Fight night details
An exact start time for the main event has yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to begin in the early hours of Sunday, December 12, UK time, most likely at 2am with the fully-retractable roof closed, to cater primarily for a US television audience. That is currently understood to be subject to negotiation, according to Fury's manager Spencer Brown.
The undercard has yet to be confirmed, but it has been said it will feature "marquee fighters from around the world." Big names linked to the event include Manny Pacquiao, Shakur Stevenson, Teofimo Lopez, Jack Catterall, Keyshawn Davis, Richardson Hitchins, Deontay Wilder, Agit Kabayel, Filip Hrgovic, Rico Verhoeven, Hamzah Sheeraz and many more.
How to watch and tickets
Fury vs Joshua will be broadcast live and exclusive around the world on Netflix, with members able to watch through their normal monthly subscription at no extra cost. A Netflix subscription currently costs from £7.99 a month in the UK. Tickets have yet to go on sale, with no specific date or potential prices announced.
Neither man carries a title into the bout, though the WBA is putting a special 'super' heavyweight belt on the line, which was held aloft by Turki Alalshikh during the face-off at the first press conference.
Prediction and odds
Fury comes into the contest with two fights since ending his latest 16-month retirement, first outpointing Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, then competing in a charity fight against Mariusz Wach in Thailand in July, forcing his 46-year-old opponent to retire after seven rounds. The next day, Joshua recovered from two shock early knockdowns against Kristian Prenga in Jeddah to produce a second-round stoppage.
Joshua's previous outing was a six-round knockout of Jake Paul in Miami in December, after being a passenger in a fatal car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his two close friends and team members Latif "Latz" Ayodele and Sina Ghami. At this stage of their careers, it has become increasingly difficult to see how Joshua can win, as Fury has never been stopped and has shown remarkable resilience against power, as Deontay Wilder will attest. Fury is expected to battle to a comfortable decision victory, with odds favouring him at 8/15, Joshua at 8/5, and a draw at 20/1.
