Paraguay face France in the last-16 of the World Cup 2026 in Philadelphia on Independence Day, with a quarter-final spot against Canada or Morocco at stake. Les Bleus have been dominant so far, winning all four matches including a 3-0 victory over Sweden in the last-32.
France's formidable attack
France's attacking trio of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise have combined for 19 goal involvements in four matches, leading the tournament scoring charts. The team cruised through Group C by beating Senegal, Iraq and Norway, conceding just one goal.
Paraguay's giant-killing run
Paraguay finished third in Group D after beating Turkiye and holding Australia to a goalless draw. They then stunned Germany in the round of 32 with a penalty shootout victory, eliminating the 2014 champions. Paraguay will hope to repeat that feat, but face a French side widely considered the strongest in the competition.
Kick-off is at 10pm BST at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The winner will face Canada or Morocco in the quarter-finals.
