Manchester City won the Carabao Cup after a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at Wembley, with left-back Nico O'Reilly scoring twice. The 21-year-old's headers, the first aided by a Kepa Arrizabalaga error, secured Pep Guardiola's 16th major trophy at the club.
City entered the final as underdogs following recent struggles, but dominated a lacklustre Arsenal side. Guardiola's tactical setup, including Antoine Semenyo on the right wing and Rayan Cherki in midfield, proved decisive. Arsenal's only clear chance came early when Kai Havertz was denied by James Trafford.
Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga endured a difficult afternoon, fumbling a cross for O'Reilly's opener and later fouling Jérémy Doku to earn a yellow card. The Gunners failed to register a shot on target after the first half, with their buildup play stifled by City's pressing.
The defeat raises questions about Arsenal's trophy-winning credentials under Mikel Arteta, who has now lost two of three cup finals as manager. City, nine points behind Arsenal in the Premier League, have a game in hand and host the Gunners on 19 April.
