Aidan O'Brien will bid for a 12th success in the Betfred Oaks without one of his strongest candidates after Precise was withdrawn due to heavy rain at Epsom.
The Ballydoyle maestro has dominated the Epsom Classic in recent years, winning four of the last six renewals. Amelia Earhart became his leading hope after a two-length win in the Cheshire Oaks in May.
Precise had emerged as a major contender following her impressive victory in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, turning the tables on stablemate True Love. O'Brien had suggested she could step up to a mile and a half for the Oaks, but doubts emerged after 33mm of rain fell at the track on Tuesday.
With the forecast unsettled and showers expected every day, the official going was Good to Soft (good in places). O'Brien confirmed concerns that Precise may not handle soft ground, and she was not declared for the race.
O'Brien will now rely on Amelia Earhart, Cameo and Sugar Island. Other main hopes include Musidora Stakes winner Legacy Link, Thundering On, and Venetian Lace.
