Farage Earns £270,000 for 12 Hours of Work

Nigel Farage earned £270,000 from a gold bullion dealer for just 12 hours of work, according to his latest register of financial interests. The Reform UK leader received the payment from Direct Bullion for promoting physical gold investments, working out at £22,500 per hour.

Payment Details and Context

The register states the £270,000 was paid for an estimated four hours of work per month over three months. This is the third such payment from Direct Bullion, following £91,200 in February 2025 and £135,000 in November 2024. Farage also declared £18,402 for six hours of presenting on GB News.

The hourly rate is more than 1,700 times the national living wage of £12.71 and nearly eight times the average annual income in his Clacton, Essex constituency.

Criticism and Investigation

Labour chair Anna Turley said: “This shows exactly who Farage is. He pretends to be on the side of ordinary working people but in truth he’s just in it for himself and will sell his time to the highest bidder.”

Farage also faces questions about a £5 million gift from Thai-based crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne. Parliament's standards commissioner is investigating whether he should have registered the gift. Since becoming an MP in July 2024, Farage has received over £2 million in income and gifts.

A spokesman for Mr Farage said: “As has previously been reported and declared, Nigel Farage is a brand ambassador for Direct Bullion.”
