Aston Villa have finalised the signing of Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers for a fee that could reach approximately £16 million. The 21-year-old, who joined Middlesbrough from Manchester City last July, scored seven goals in 33 appearances for the club, including a goal in last week's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea.
Villa had shown prolonged interest in Rogers, who began his professional career at West Bromwich Albion and had loan spells at Lincoln City, Blackpool, and Bournemouth during his time at Manchester City. Middlesbrough initially resisted Villa's early approaches but eventually agreed to a deal that represents a significant profit on the £1 million they paid for the player. Manchester City are understood to have a sell-on clause in the transfer.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest signed 18-year-old striker Rodrigo Ribeiro from Sporting CP on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent. Brighton & Hove Albion, who had also shown early interest in Rogers, instead saw midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud leave on loan to Stuttgart until the end of the season. The 28-year-old German joined Brighton from Borussia Dortmund last June and made 14 appearances for the club.
