Nigeria have overcome an injury crisis in attack as they prepare to face Guinea-Bissau in an AFCON qualifier today. Eric Chelle has made three changes to the Super Eagles side that beat Madagascar 2-1 last week.
Attack reshuffled after injury concerns
Goalscorer George Ilenikhena and Akor Adams both missed training on Sunday, sparking concerns over their involvement in Bissau. Neither man completed the match against Madagascar, with Adams playing just over an hour and Ilenikhena managing 69 minutes before being withdrawn.
With Victor Osimhen also missing from the squad through injury, Adams is fit enough to start, while Ilenikhena is named on the bench. Coventry's Taiwo Awoniyi steps up to lead the line, and Moses Usor, who scored off the bench last time out, has to settle for a place on the bench once again.
Midfield and defence adjustments
The midfield core of Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi is kept intact, but they are set to be joined by Frank Onyeka, suggesting a change of formation. Chelle has also rotated his defence after all bar one of the back four completed 90 minutes against Madagascar; the exception, Ola Aina, still put in 87 minutes. Birmingham City's Bright Osayi-Samuel is drafted in to refresh the back line.
