Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has been refused media accreditation by Nottingham Forest for their final Premier League match of the season against Chelsea at the City Ground on Sunday. The former Manchester United defender was scheduled to provide commentary for Sky, but the club declined to grant him access. Forest declined to comment when approached.
Neville took to Instagram to express his disappointment, stating that he was informed by Sky that Forest would not grant him accreditation. He described the decision as 'unprecedented' in his 14-year career and said it was 'symptomatic' of issues at the club over the past year. He wished the coaching staff, players, and fans well in their pursuit of Champions League football.
The dispute stems from Neville's criticism of Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis. After Forest's 2-0 defeat at Everton last year, the club questioned the integrity of VAR official Stuart Attwell, prompting Neville to compare their actions to a 'mafia gang'. Marinakis's lawyers contacted Sky, leading to an apology. More recently, Neville described Marinakis walking onto the pitch after a draw with Leicester as 'scandalous' and urged head coach Nuno Espírito Santo to leave the club.
