Case against Mudryk collapses
The Football Association provisionally suspended Mudryk in December 2024 after he failed a drugs test. He was then charged in June 2025 with violating anti-doping rules, with a four-year ban threatened. That suspension was formally imposed in April this year and was due to last until 2028, taking into account the time already served.
On July 31, however, all charges against the winger were dropped, leaving the 25-year-old free to play again. He has not featured for Chelsea since November 2024.
Rejoining the squad in Hong Kong
Mudryk, who joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023 for £62 million, has scored five goals in 53 appearances for the club. He will now link up with his team-mates in Hong Kong as they continue their pre-season tour.
The Blues' tour has included a 6-4 win over Western Sydney Wanderers and a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham in Sydney.
Alonso: He is a special player
Speaking after the Spurs defeat at Accor Stadium, Alonso said: "We are happy for him. We are probably not able to understand what he has been through in these moments. We want him to be a part of the team. He has the support of everyone."
"It will take time but once things have changed, things will start moving. It's massive. He wants to play football and be part of the team, it must have been really hard for him. I watched him at Shakhtar, the impact he had, how good he is in one-v-one situations. He can create a lot of situations on his own. He's a special player."
