Senegal have been stripped of the Africa Cup of Nations title and Morocco awarded a 3-0 win after the Confederation of African Football (Caf) appeal board ruled Senegal forfeited the final following a walkout protest in Rabat.
In the final held in January, Senegal coach Pape Thiaw and some players left the pitch for 15 minutes after Morocco were awarded a penalty. They returned after captain Sadio Mané intervened, and Brahim Díaz's saved spot-kick took the match to extra time, where Pape Gueye scored the winner for Senegal.
Caf initially imposed fines and bans but left the result untouched. However, the appeal board decided Senegal forfeited the match under article 84, with a 3-0 win for Morocco. The Senegalese federation is expected to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Senegal defender Moussa Niakhaté criticised the decision on Instagram, while the Moroccan football federation said its approach was to request application of regulations, not challenge sporting performance.
