Mohamed Salah Claims He Has Been 'Thrown Under the Bus' by Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has launched a scathing attack on Liverpool, accusing the club of making him a scapegoat for their poor start to the season. The Egyptian forward was left on the bench for the third consecutive match in Saturday's 3-3 draw at Leeds, a decision he described as 'unacceptable' and one that has cast serious doubt over his future at Anfield.

Salah, who was the Premier League's top scorer last season and named PFA and FWA Player of the Year, said he felt the club had broken promises made during contract negotiations. 'I got a lot of promises and so far I am on the bench for three games,' he said. 'It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling.'

The 32-year-old hinted that next week's home game against Brighton could be his last for Liverpool before he joins up with the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. 'In my head, I'm going to enjoy that game because I don't know what is going to happen now,' he said. 'I will be in Anfield to say goodbye to the fans.'

Salah, who has scored only four Premier League goals this season, insisted he was not the cause of Liverpool's struggles. 'I have done so much for this club,' he said. 'The respect, I want to get. I don't have to go every day fighting for my position because I earned it.'

The forward also claimed his relationship with manager Arne Slot had broken down. 'I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don't have any relationship,' Salah said. 'I don't know why, but it seems to me that someone doesn't want me in the club.'

Liverpool have endured a stuttering start to their title defence, and Salah's absence from the starting lineup has raised questions about his role. The club have not commented on his remarks.
