Manchester United's summer signing Mason Mount has suffered an early setback in his Red Devils career after being ruled out of the remainder of the club's pre-season tour of the United States.
The £60 million midfielder, who joined from Chelsea earlier this summer, has returned to England for treatment on an unspecified injury that forced him to miss United's 2-0 victory over Arsenal in New Jersey.
Mount's Early Exit Raises Concerns
The 24-year-old England international had been expected to play a key role in Erik ten Hag's plans this season, but his premature departure from the tour will worry fans hoping to see him make an immediate impact.
United confirmed Mount's return to Carrington in a brief statement, saying: "Mason Mount has left the camp and returned to the UK to continue his recovery from an injury."
Pre-Season Plans Disrupted
Mount's injury comes at a frustrating time for Ten Hag, who had been using the US tour to integrate new signings and build fitness ahead of the new Premier League season.
The midfielder had featured in United's opening pre-season match against Leeds United in Oslo, playing 45 minutes in the 2-0 win, but was absent for subsequent fixtures against Lyon and Arsenal.
United's Injury Woes Continue
Mount isn't the only United player struggling with fitness issues. Defender Tyrell Malacia has also missed the tour due to injury, while new goalkeeper Andre Onana only joined up with the squad this week after completing his transfer from Inter Milan.
With the Premier League season starting in just three weeks against Wolves on August 14th, Ten Hag will be hoping Mount's setback proves minor and the midfielder can return to full training soon.
