Manchester United are planning a major squad overhaul next summer, with eight first-team players reportedly set to leave Old Trafford. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has admitted that several players are 'not good enough' and 'overpaid', as the club looks to cut losses on big-money signings that have failed to deliver.
According to the Daily Mail, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton will depart when their contracts expire. United also aim to offload Casemiro and Mason Mount, despite the significant financial hit, while Antony is expected to make his loan move to Real Betis permanent.
The report adds that striker Rasmus Hojlund, who cost £72 million, could be sold after failing to score in his last 20 appearances. Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford are currently on loan at Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively, with permanent moves possible in the summer.
Ratcliffe told BBC Sport: 'We have to sort out things from the past. Some are not good enough and some probably are overpaid. It takes time to move away from the past into a new place in the future.' He confirmed Bruno Fernandes remains a key player for the club.
