Man Utd XI vs Roma: Dorgu out, Mainoo starts

Manchester United will face Roma in the Champions League without Patrick Dorgu, who returned to training on Monday but is not yet match-fit. Head coach Michael Carrick confirmed the former Lecce player will not be involved in the league phase tie at Old Trafford.

"It was his first day with the group, great to have him back, but he won't be involved tomorrow," Carrick said. "We'll see how he progresses for the week [ahead]."

Defensive and Attacking Absences

The left-back position remains a problem for United, with Luke Shaw also sidelined with a muscle problem. Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have been deputising from right-back, while Leny Yoro has filled in as a makeshift right-sided full-back, and Ayden Heaven is another option in that role.

Marcus Rashford is still out with a hip issue that kept him out of defeats by Como and Bournemouth and the match against Chelsea. He has not returned to training and will not feature. Benjamin Sesko remains a longer-term absentee as he recovers from a shin problem.

Mainoo Returns to Starting Lineup

Kobbie Mainoo, who returned to training before the Chelsea trip and came on as a substitute at Stamford Bridge, starts in midfield. He is partnered by Carlos Baleba, with Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos among those rotated in recent weeks.

Matheus Cunha starts off the left flank, Bryan Mbeumo leads the line, Bruno Fernandes continues as the No10 after his comeback at Chelsea, and Amad Diallo is on the right.

Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Yoro, Maguire, Heaven, Dalot; Mainoo, Baleba; Amad, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo.

Subs: Darlow, Heaton, Amass, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui, Santos, Mount, Fletcher, Tielemans, Lacey, Zirkzee.

Injured: Dorgu, Sesko, Shaw, Rashford, Ugarte.
