Manchester United and Tottenham are locked in a goalless Premier League encounter at Old Trafford this evening, as the top flight returns to action after a three-week international break. Both sides have been hit by injury concerns during the hiatus, with United monitoring captain Bruno Fernandes and Spurs checking on Dutch defenders Jan Paul van Hecke and Micky van de Ven after knocks sustained while on international duty.
Stuttering starts for both sides
Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham sit bottom of the league table after five games, while Michael Carrick's United are in 12th position following a stuttering opening run. United have lost to newly-promoted Hull City, been held by Everton, lost the Manchester derby, and been knocked out of the Carabao Cup prematurely.

First-half chances and a disallowed goal
Spurs had a goal disallowed on 56 minutes when Tielemans stroked the ball into the corner, but it was ruled that the ball had gone out of play as Gray looked to usher it away. United had a let-off moments earlier as Savio broke clear down the Spurs left, but his cutback found neither Solanke nor Kudus, with Shaw stabbing it away.
Just before the hour mark, United made three changes, with Baleba making his debut in place of Tielemans, Zirkzee replacing Amad, and Dalot coming on for Yoro.
Late pressure and near misses
Fernandes went close with a spectacular effort from an angle after a good turn from Zirkzee, slicing wide on 64 minutes. The United captain also teased a free kick over the wall for Zirkzee, who won a corner, and saw a shot blocked by Udogie at the last moment as he was about to pull the trigger.
With the match still goalless, both sides continue to push for a breakthrough as the game enters its closing stages.
