Man Utd XI vs Aston Villa: Team news, injury latest, predicted lineup

Manchester United will be hoping to welcome back a couple of stars when they host Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Red Devils ended their winless run on Tuesday with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Roma in the Champions League.

Matheus Cunha scored a late brace to turn the game around, with the hosts looking beaten at half time. Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty at the second attempt after the break, before Cunha lashed home with five minutes to play to secure a valuable three points for manager Michael Carrick, who had been under pressure following the club's worst ever start to a Premier League campaign.

Injury and Suspension Updates

Marcus Rashford and Patrick Dorgu could return from injury, with the former on the comeback trail from a hip problem and the latter back in training after a hamstring issue picked up on international duty. That could give Carrick a more natural option at left-back, with Diogo Dalot having filled in there in recent games.

Lisandro Martinez will miss out through suspension after his red card in the defeat at Chelsea, meaning Senne Lammens is likely to be shielded by a defence of Leny Yoro at right-back, Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven in the middle, and Dalot at left-back. Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are also options in the middle and at full-back respectively.

Midfield and Attack

Carlos Baleba is a significant loss after pulling up with a hamstring injury against Roma, despite playing well alongside Kobbie Mainoo in midweek. Mainoo is likely to retain his place, with either Youri Tielemans or Andrey Santos partnering him behind Bruno Fernandes.

Rashford could return on the left, but his comeback is likely to happen off the bench, with Cunha often positioned off the flank. Amad Diallo will operate off the right with Bryan Mbeumo up top, in lieu of Benjamin Sesko, who is out until the new year with a shin problem.
