Manchester United have extended their unbeaten run to five games under Ruben Amorim, the longest streak since the Portuguese coach took charge, but the club faces fresh scrutiny over the form of striker Benjamin Sesko and criticism from former Premier League icon Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Despite consecutive 2-2 draws with Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, United sit seventh in the Premier League, within sight of the top four. However, Hasselbaink claimed on Sky Sports News that Amorim has not improved any aspect of the team, pointing to a lack of goals, defensive solidity and creativity.
Amorim responded by vowing to stick with his ideas, telling MUTV: 'When I’m under pressure, I’m stronger on my ideas and I keep with my ideas.' He added that he felt supported by the club and fans.
Meanwhile, tensions have arisen over Benjamin Sesko, the £74 million summer signing who has scored only two goals in 12 appearances. The striker picked up a knock against Tottenham and was deemed unfit for Slovenia duty by United's medical staff, sparking a row with national team manager Matjaz Kek, who initially accused the club of a lack of respect.
The Slovenian FA later confirmed after receiving full medical documentation that Sesko's injury prevented him from training, and he will undergo further examinations and treatment at United.
