Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a surprise move for Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella after the Spaniard handed in a transfer request. According to reports, Cucurella has informed Chelsea he wishes to leave this summer, with his time at Stamford Bridge considered 'completely over'.
Cucurella, who joined Chelsea from Brighton for £60 million in 2022, has made over 50 appearances in each of the last two seasons. However, Chelsea's 10th-place Premier League finish, which saw them fail to qualify for European competition, has prompted several players to consider their futures.
The 25-year-old is prioritising a move to Barcelona, where he began his career as a youth player. However, Barcelona currently have other priorities, including signing a top striker, and may only move for Cucurella if fellow left-back Alejandro Balde departs.
Manchester United are targeting a new left-back to provide cover and competition for Luke Shaw ahead of their return to European competition. The Red Devils are 'closely monitoring' Cucurella's situation, alongside Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea are reportedly open to Cucurella's departure and would demand a fee between €40 million and €50 million. Meanwhile, Enzo Fernandez and Filip Jorgensen have also handed in transfer requests, with Chelsea valuing Fernandez at around £120 million.
