Manchester United have accepted a loan offer from Napoli for striker Rasmus Hojlund, with the Italian club set to take the Denmark international on a temporary deal that includes an obligation to buy. The 22-year-old has not featured in Ruben Amorim's matchday squads this season as United prepare to offload him before the transfer deadline.
Napoli will pay a £5 million loan fee, and the overall package could exceed £43 million. The obligation to buy is set at £38 million, triggered if Napoli qualify for the Champions League. Hojlund joined United for £72 million from Atalanta in 2023 but has struggled to justify the fee, scoring 14 Premier League goals in 62 appearances.
United have invested heavily in new forwards, spending £200 million on Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo, and are now looking to recoup funds. The deal remains subject to Hojlund finalising personal terms with Napoli, who signed Scott McTominay from United last summer.
Meanwhile, midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is also pushing for an exit and would be willing to join Antonio Conte's side permanently, but United are currently unwilling to sanction any deal. Amorim said: 'I want Kobbie to stay. He needs to fight for his place and we need Kobbie. That's not going to change.' He added that players not playing are disappointed but must fight for opportunities.
