Manchester United are on high alert after Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season. The 51-year-old has been linked with the Old Trafford hot seat following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim earlier this month.
Glasner revealed he informed Palace chairman Steve Parish of his decision not to extend his contract during the October international break. The Austrian said: 'My decision has already been taken months ago. I had a meeting in the October international break and I told him I would not sign a new contract.'
The announcement came after a turbulent weekend for Palace, who lost 2-1 to Sunderland. Glasner criticised the board for selling captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City for £20million on Friday, claiming the squad felt 'abandoned'. He said: 'If your heart gets ripped out twice a year... I've just got no understanding.'
Reports suggest Parish was 'fuming' over Glasner's comments but has decided against sacking him immediately. The manager will remain in charge until the summer, putting Manchester United and Tottenham on red alert.
United sacked Ruben Amorim earlier this month, with Michael Carrick taking interim charge. Carrick impressed with a 2-0 win over Manchester City at the weekend. Glasner is the bookmakers' favourite to become United's next permanent manager for the 2026/27 season.
Glasner is also keen on the Tottenham job should they part ways with Thomas Frank, according to sources. The Austrian took over at Palace in February 2024 following Roy Hodgson's departure.
