The news follows Thomas Tuchel's decision to extend his contract with England. The former Chelsea manager signed a two-year extension with the FA on Thursday, after being linked with the United vacancy. Tuchel met with United chiefs in 2024 to discuss replacing Erik ten Hag, but the Dutchman was not dismissed at that time.
United are yet to decide who will be in charge next season, with Michael Carrick currently serving as interim manager. Carrick has made an impressive start, winning four and drawing one of his five matches in charge, increasing his chances of landing the role permanently. The club are taking their time to assess options behind the scenes.
Other potential candidates include Roberto De Zerbi, who is now freely available after leaving Marseille, and Oliver Glasner, who has confirmed he will depart Crystal Palace at the end of this season. However, Carrick's strong form may force the club's hand if he continues his winning run.
