Man Utd injury update: Dorgu nears return, Yoro issue

Patrick Dorgu trained with Manchester United for the first time on Monday since sustaining a hamstring injury on international duty in September, but he will not be ready for the Champions League meeting with Roma at Old Trafford.

The Denmark international could, however, be in contention for the squad against Aston Villa on Sunday, according to head coach Michael Carrick.

Dorgu's Return and Left-Back Crisis

Dorgu's return to group training marks a step forward, yet Carrick confirmed he will not feature against the in-form Italian side. "His first day with the group, Pat, so great to have him back," said Carrick. "He's worked ever so hard to be back with the group, but he won't be involved tomorrow. We'll see how he progresses through the week really, but great to have him back."

United's left-back crisis is set to continue, with Luke Shaw not expected back before the international break. Shaw has been sidelined for the last five games and missed training on Monday alongside Marcus Rashford.

Shaw and Rashford Updates

Rashford continues to recover from hip and thigh injuries, though Carrick suggested he could have a chance of being involved later in the week. "Luke definitely won't be around this week and fit at that point. Marcus, we'll just have to see day by day how he keeps improving," said Carrick.

Neither player trained on Monday, leaving United's defensive options stretched for the Roma fixture.

Yoro's Tendon Issue Explained

Carrick moved to allay fears over Leny Yoro, who has been wearing strapping on his knee in training and recent games. The French defender has been managing a problematic tendon that "comes and goes," according to the United boss.

"Leny's just had a bit of a tendon really, so it's one of them that kind of comes and goes, but he's been managing it, and he's been fine," said Carrick. "I think he's been fantastic, to be honest, been one of our best players, and he has been since he came back first day pre-season. He's impressed us all a lot, so being delighted with Leny and his performances. He's on a really good pathway."

Yoro's form has been a bright spot for United, with Carrick praising his contributions since his return in pre-season as the club navigates its current injury list.
