Juventus are in advanced negotiations with Manchester United over a loan move for Joshua Zirkzee, which would include a £30 million purchase option, according to The Sun. The Dutch striker has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford since his arrival in 2024 under Erik ten Hag.
Zirkzee's Struggles at United
Zirkzee has managed only five goals in 56 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils. He has been unable to break into the plans of either Ruben Amorim or current manager Michael Carrick. Despite his lack of game time, the 25-year-old is reportedly open to staying at United, believing that European football in the 2026/27 season could offer him more opportunities under Carrick.
Juventus Turn to Zirkzee After Kolo Muani Talks Stall
The Serie A club had been pursuing France international Kolo Muani, but failed to agree a fee with Paris Saint-Germain after his loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur. Juventus have now shifted focus to Zirkzee, who is no stranger to Italian football. He spent one season on loan at Parma and two seasons at Bologna before moving to Manchester.
Roma also hold a long-standing interest in Zirkzee, but Juventus are considered the most serious suitors. The Italian club are said to have moved quickly in negotiations, and Zirkzee's camp have responded positively to their advances.
United Prepared to Sanction Loan Deal
Manchester United are reportedly willing to allow Zirkzee to leave on loan with a £30 million option to buy, despite paying around £36.5 million for him two years ago. Club officials reportedly view the fee as a fair reflection of his current value, given his inconsistent performances.
Zirkzee impressed in a pre-season friendly against Rosenborg, scoring in a 5-0 win, but his Premier League displays have been underwhelming. He currently sits behind Benjamin Sesko and Mateus Cunha in the attacking pecking order, and Marcus Rashford's potential return could push him further down.
