The breakthrough came in the 83rd minute when Glódís Viggosdóttir glanced home a header from a corner. Just minutes later, Linda Dallmann fired in from close range to seal the win. United struggled to contain Bayern’s relentless attack, particularly from set pieces.
Speaking after the match, a frustrated United player said: “Two set pieces, it seems every game we get knocked out on set pieces. We fully believed we could go on and win, so everyone is disappointed.” The team acknowledged their pride in reaching the Champions League proper for the first time, describing it as making history.
Bayern’s victory sets up a semi-final tie against either Barcelona or Real Madrid. For United, the focus now shifts back to domestic competitions as they reflect on a promising European run that ultimately fell short.
