Sir Jim Ratcliffe and at least one member of the Glazer family visited Manchester United's Carrington training ground on Thursday to support interim manager Michael Carrick before Saturday's derby against Manchester City.
The club moved an executive committee meeting from another location to Carrington so that senior management, including chief executive Omar Berrada and chief financial officer Roger Bell, could speak with Carrick. It is believed either Avram or Joel Glazer attended.
Carrick, who is in his second caretaker spell, said: 'The big games, the important games, are what we all live for.' He expressed confidence in his squad, which includes several young players, as United sit seventh in the Premier League with 17 league games remaining and only European qualification to play for.
In separate news, defender Lisandro Martínez revealed for the first time that he considered retiring after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in February. The 27-year-old told AFA Estudio: 'After the first two or three weeks, to tell you the truth, I didn't want to play football any more.' He credited family, friends, physios and a psychologist for helping him recover and says he now feels better than ever.
