Man United injury news: Shaw, Rashford, Dorgu ahead of Roma

Manchester United host AS Roma in the Champions League tomorrow night, with manager Michael Carrick under severe scrutiny after his side lost to Chelsea on Saturday. United last won against Sabah FK in September and need to beat the Serie A club to ease the pressure on their boss.

Mainoo returns as Martinez serves ban

United received a boost last week as Kobbie Mainoo returned to training. He came off the bench to face Chelsea and will be fit enough to feature again tomorrow night. Lisandro Martinez was sent off against Chelsea, but his ban will be served on Sunday against Aston Villa.

There are a few injury concerns for the Reds heading into this game. MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest injury updates for the Reds.

Shaw, Rashford and Dorgu ruled out

Luke Shaw's injury is unknown. Carrick confirmed that Shaw was behind Mainoo in his recovery. Now Mainoo has returned, all eyes are on the full-back, who did not feature in training on Monday. On Shaw, Carrick said: "Luke definitely won't be around this week, and fit at that point." His potential return date is November 22 against Liverpool.

Marcus Rashford has been suffering with a hip injury having not travelled to Como last month. He did not feature in training on Monday so is unlikely to feature against Roma. On Rashford, Carrick said: "Marcus, we will just have to see day-by-day how he keeps improving." His potential return date is November 8 against Aston Villa.

Patrick Dorgu has not featured since picking up a thigh injury during the first international break of the season. However, he featured in the 24-man training squad on Monday. Speaking about Dorgu, Carrick said: "It was his first day with the group so it is great to have him back. He's worked ever so hard to be back with the group, but he won't be involved tomorrow. We will see how he progresses through the week but great to have him back." His potential return date is November 8 against Aston Villa.

Sesko and Ugarte longer-term absentees

Carrick gave a concerning update on Benjamin Sesko's fitness last week. Speaking in his press conference on Friday, he said: "Yeah, unfortunately Ben looks like he's going to be out for a period of time. We're still not clear of exactly how long, but it's going to be for a longer period of time. It was the process, as I said to you before, we had to go through the process, a bit of a healing process for the injury to see how it would react and what direction to go with that. Even now we're still working through it. But it's unfortunate, obviously first and foremost, for Ben, for the kind of period that he's had, and tried to get through it and going through this again. And for us to not have him available is obviously a blow, but we'll try and get back, get him back as quick as we can." His potential return date is January.

Manuel Ugarte is out. He continues to recover from the serious knee injury that he picked up at the World Cup. His potential return date is 2027.
