The 2026 London Marathon is about to begin, and for those inspired to participate in the 2027 edition, the application process is already open. Here is everything you need to know about applying for the TCS London Marathon 2027.
Ballot Opening and Closing Dates
The ballot for the 2027 TCS London Marathon opened at 9am on Friday, April 24, 2026. The application window is short, closing on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 4pm. Late applications are not accepted, so interested runners must act quickly.
How to Apply
All applications must be submitted via the official TCS London Marathon website. Prospective runners need to create a profile and provide details such as their predicted finish time to ensure correct placement in starting waves if selected.
Entry Fees
For UK residents, the entry fee is £79.99, payable only if selected in the random draw. There is no cost to enter the ballot. If successful via the ballot, the fee reduces to £49.99. International runners face a higher fee of £225 and are entered into a separate ballot.
Charity and Tour Operator Places
Charity places are available through UK-based charities, often with lower registration fees but a fundraising commitment of £2,000 to £3,000. International runners can also book packages through official tour operators, which guarantee entry but are more expensive as they include accommodation and travel.
Results Notification
Ballot applicants will be notified via email in late June or early July 2026. Successful runners will have about nine months to prepare for the April 2027 event.
Alternative Entry Paths
Fast runners may qualify via 'Good for Age' (UK residents only) or 'Championship' entries (must be a UK Athletics affiliated club member).
